If you remember, in January we set a goal to memorize one verse a month as a family. We started with Philippians 4:8. I'm happy to report we all memorized the verse! {Truman needed a little help with the order of the longer words, but he did fabulous!}
And so, as promised, we celebrated with ice cream!
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."Seeds Family worship came in clutch again with a mashup of Romans 5:8 and Romans 6:23. It's called Hey Man from their Seeds of Faith album.
I created another crossword puzzle {download here!} and Winston did a great job finding the words all on his own. Quite a few of the words were sight words from school. I like how this activity not only reinforces what he's learning at school but that he has fun doing it too!
We also did a craft that illustrates how Jesus dying on the cross covers up all of our sins; it doesn't matter what the sins are, His great love covers them all. As they glued on some sins onto the paper we talked about what each of them were. I asked them to give examples of each and they had a really good understanding on the words.
Next we talked about how Jesus died on the cross for our sins. And how His death covers all the sins.
{Truman was enthusiastically singing our song at this point! 😂}
Lastly, to illustrate that Jesus death on the cross was an act of love for us, we covered any remaining traces of sin with hearts. Hearing their sweet tiny voices talk about God's love and know that it's for them is a special thing for this mama's heart.
This is by far one my favorite things that we do together as a family! I look forward to celebrating February with more ice cream and gearing up for March's verse!
What is a verse that you remember memorizing as a kiddo?
Oh my goodness, we used to LOVE Seeds family worship. I would listen with the kids on the drive to school. I still remember so many of the verses to the tune of the songs! :)
