Well, when you get out of the routine of blogging, like I have, it's almost a daunting task of where do I start? How do I pick this back up again?
I've decided to start by documenting that Benjamin and I celebrated six years of marriage this weekend! It's part of our celebration routine each year to make sure that the two of us have a quiet evening to recap the year. A how'd we do in the past year. Did we love each other well? What were our favorite times? Most unexpected thing? Goofiest thing? What's one thing we could do better in the next year? It's a great time for us to reflect and be honest with one another. I think we always still surprise each other with answers which I find cool because we are still learning and growing together.
We said that this year was the most different year for us because of the addition of Winston to our family and our routine. He has been an amazing addition and we are so thankful for him! He has also made us cherish the quiet times we have to ourselves even more! He was a huge part of our celebration of six as we took him to the zoo for the first time {and became members!}!
In having a Winston, I have seen and fallen in love with a completely new side of Benjamin; him being a Dad. He is amazing at it! Our philosophy from day one has been that we are a team and he is the best teammate I could ask for. He squeezes the bath sponge after Winston and I have drenched the bathroom, he gets excited to see little manny in the morning and loves being able to take Winston to day care. I smile to myself when I hear Benjamin singing to Winston in the other room. My heart melts each time I see the two of them cuddled up together in the still moments before W's bedtime. These small yet significant things are magical to my heart. My husband continues to enchant me each day and I am willingly swept into it!
Our time of being baby faced and cuddled up together on our small red sofa are days past that we cherish...
...and those days have grown into two adults who still, after six years of wild ride, love each other to pieces and have a fur baby and a Winston baby to show for it!Benjamin: Thank you for loving me unconditionally regardless of how sane, crazy or sing-songy I am on particular days. Thank you for being such a great example of servant leadership in all that you do for Winston and me. Thank you for my foot rubs, as I've told you time and again, they are magic. Thank you for the way that you have dedicate yourself to follow God's calling on your life and taking our little family along for the ride! You are my rock and I can't imagine my life without you!
Here are the highlights from Year 6:
- Winston was born!
- A family trip to Aberdeen, Scotland and San Antonio
- Get-a-ways to Vegas and Philly
- Benjamin signed with an Orthodontic practice
- Starting construction on our next home
Eyes forward to Year Seven!
