What's Up Wednesday: April Edition

What We're Easting This Week
This week we are eating things like Crust take out, Italian chicken, Fish sticks + mac and cheese!

What I'm Reminiscing About
We took the boys to a little circus that came to town.  Benjamin and I had seen this circus when we lived in Allen!  This time however, Winston and I had the opportunity to ride Tracy the Elephant!  I remember riding an elephant with my mom when I was little and it has always been on of my favorite things.  I was so pumped to be able to share this fun experience with Winston!

What I'm Loving
Now with two little humans to take along grocery shopping, I was highly intrigued when I came across Baby Binxy on Instagram.  I visited their website and purchased the Raindrops in Blue and stalked my mailbox for it's arrival.  Arriving just a few days later, I was pumped to go on a Target run, try out the hammock and see how Truman liked it.  Happily, not only did he look like a comfy muffin, Winston also loved having Truman so close behind him!
I was wildly impressed with how many groceries I could still fit in the cart {and the bags after!}.  The Baby Binxy has made grocery shopping fun and easy!  If you'd like to buy one for yourself or as a gift, click here to get a 10% discount!

What We've Been Up To
We have all been fighting the crud {except for Truman, he has remained healthy!  Thank you Jesus!}.  Our days have been full of jammies, snuggles and every once in a while we venture out into public!

What I'm Dreading
....I'm not sure that I have anything that I need to be dreading...

What I'm Working On
I'm currently brainstorming my Summer Bucket List!  I'm part of a new link up that launched this month and next month's topic is What's On Your... Summer Bucket List.

This is our list from last summer!  Do you have any suggestions?  We'd love for you to join in with us!

What I'm Excited About
I can hardly believe that summer is around the corner, but I am pretty excited about getting to spend the days with both of the boys!  We have a few fun things on the calendar and lots of days that I intend to fill with playing in the new pool!

What I'm Watching/Reading
Benjamin and I have been watching....
Season 2!!

I've also been reading Wild and Free.  You can still get it on pre-order through Amazon and I highly encourage you to do it!

What I'm Listening To
In the evenings we turn on some jamming tunes while I'm making dinner and have dance sessions!  Our house is wired for surround sound and we have a Sonos.  I wasn't sure how I'd like it - but I absolutely love it!

What I'm Wearing
CONTACTS!  :)
My very last set of contacts ripped in half when we were in Chicago!  And because I needed an updated prescription for some new frames we had purchased, I went to the eye doctor for a check up. And got some contacts!
Have no fear, the glasses will still be around but it's nice to have "just eyes" as Winston says!

What I'm Doing This Weekend
Spending time with my boys at The Most Magical Place on Earth!

What I'm Looking Forward To Next Month
Next month is Mother's Day and I am looking forward to celebrating it as a mother of these two sweet cherubs...
Who doesn't love kiddos who nap?  I think they look alike in these photos!  :)

What Else is New
This little guy turned two months and clocked in at 24" long, weighing 14.2 pounds!  He is a happy, tiny human.  He coos and giggles much to the delight of everyone in the house!

What's On Your...Nightstand!

Hello friends!  I have been so excited about this link up and I hope that you enjoy reading and joining along with us!

This month's theme is:
What's On Your...Nightstand!
This is my nightstand in all of it's glory!  Our bedroom seems to be the last room in our house to get any love.  We purchased these nightstands because we needed something to put our lights on.  The other stands we had went into the spare room.  My hope is to someday replace them with slightly larger ones because the real estate on the top is quite snug!
My alarm clock and a cup of water are to constants on by my bed.  I love this alarm clock because you can set two different alarms guaranteeing that I won't snooze too late on the days when we need to be up and running!  {Side story: In college, my alarm clock sound was a techno drum beat.  There was one long weekend that I went home and forgot to turn it off much to my room mate's dismay!  When we all moved out, she asked for my alarm clock and then proceeded to go all Office Space on it!  May it rest in pieces.}
Always glasses and some sort of evidence that Winston has been around also grace the top of my nightstand.  I also have a little dish to put hold my earrings and jewelry from the day.

Pretty simple!  Nothing too fancy.  And to be honest, what is on the top of it changes from day to day as things get cleaned off and new treasures show up!  Also, if anyone has tips for how to keep a lampshade on straight, please share!!

Kids Behind the Blog: April Interview

I cannot believe another month has flown by!!  It has gone so quickly that I almost missed my favorite link up!

1.  What is your favorite thing to do with your friends?
I like to play with trains.  I like to chase them and say, "Roundaroundaroundaround!"
2.  Who is your favorite person?
Mommy!  {And after he answered, he said in a high pitched voice "That's so sweet of you!"  The little ham!}
3.  When playing outside, what does your ideal sunny day plans look like?
Play with bubbles and play with my playground.  I would squirt my playground with the hose to make it clean and shiny!  And then I'd like to play with my pool, but you cannot be funny with the hose, Mommy.  You just squirt the pool, not me Mommy.  Just the pool okay?
4.  What do you like to do when it is raining?
Play with my tools and watch some shows.
5.  If you could plant a garden of anything, what would you plant?
Flowers.  I would grow blue flowers because blue is my favorite!

This little ham.  He is just too funny these days!  His imagination has him asking questions of Lulu and Truman  {How many fingers am I holding up?  You want to watch a show with me?  You want to play outside?} and then answering himself using a high pitched voice as their voice! {Seven!  Yes!  Not now, I'm under the blankee!}  Cracks me up every time!

The next link up is May 11th!  Click here for the list of questions!

Five Things on Friday: 4.8.16

It's amazing that Friday is here already!  Winston has been under the weather this week and while he was home from school every day, the week certainly went by quickly!  The highlights of the week involve lots of snuggle and show time, a trip to Target, a run to Starbuck's and Truman sleeping six hours straight!  Low points include Lulu eating one of Truman's leather shoes.  Also yesterday was like poo-splosion city over here between Winston, Truman and Lulu!  #usethepoopurri #lightacandle #usethebathroomfanpronto

one || Birthday Celebrations
Last week I celebrated my thirty-third birthday with a trip to Chicago and an ice cream cake with my favorites!  I absolutely love this picture.  I feel like it says a lot about our world.  We love to be silly, we laugh full out and we are constantly moving!  Winston and I were giving a high five when his entire arm landed in the cake!  Giggles ensued!

two || Scott Sterling
Benjamin and I spent about 25 minutes last night full on belly laughing at this video.  It.is.hilarious!  Sure, physical comedy pretty much always makes me laugh but it's the commentators that had me in stitches and tears!

three || caramelized honey frappe
My tastebuds have declared this my springtime drink!

four || the boys
I mean.  It's just amazing how the bonds between siblings form.  Winston loves Truman.  I mean loves him.  He is always wanting Truman to sit next to him.  He loves kissing him and I actually mean smothering him with kisses!  His other favorite activity is rubbing Truman's head.  I'm not sure where he got it from but since day one Winston has rubbed Truman's head.  A soft, sweet pat-rub.  Winston is quick sing to him or shush him.  Winston will ask Truman if he wants to watch a show with them and then in a high pitched voice {which is meant to be Truman's} answer the question and then proceed to tell me that Truman wants to watch a show/play with Playdoh/go outside too!  On the flip side, when Truman hears Winston's voice he turns his head, coos and smiles!  And those baby smiles are just precious!!

five || locked in
Have you heard of these escape rooms?  Where you are locked in a room with a group of people and you have to work together to get out?  It reminds me of a TV show I watched with my family called Crystal Maze. Contestants are locked in rooms and they have a certain amount of time to solve puzzles and collect a crystal!  Once the crystal is collected the group moves on to the next room!   Here's the first episode!  {I completely squealed in excitement when I saw they were on You Tube.  What is not on You Tube?!}

This weekend we going to voluntarily lock ourselves in one of these rooms and try our hand at solving clues in a not your average history mystery!  We are doing it with friends and I am super pumped!

Chicago, The Windy City

My sweet husband surprised me with a trip to Chicago for my birthday this year!  It was less than 72 hours away but it was splendid!
Benjamin had been before with his college roommate.  They drove from Waco straight, stayed in a hostel and did manly things like see Spamalot, Blue Man Group and Spelling Bee before heading back home.  Thankfully he did stepped it up a bit in the lodging department!
He had planned our first day and left our second day open for whatever I would like to do.  He kept dropping hints as to what our evening plans were and in the airport, as we were waiting for our flight that ended up being three hours late {thanks American}, I guessed that we were going to see the Blue Man Group!  Due to the delay in our plane, we missed the show that we had tickets for but the house manager was able to get us two tickets not far from where our original ones were for the eight o'clock showing.  This girl was as happy as a lark!  I just love the Blue Man Group shows.  They are inventive, artistic, funny and clean entertainment!
To wrap up the night, we ordered extra crispy fries with a Coke.  Why does Coke from a glass bottle always taste so delicious?!  My favorite feature of our room was the fireplace.  We had it lit both nights and in the mornings while we sat talking about whatever we wanted to!

The remainder of our time was spent enjoying the food and sights that Chicago has to offer!

What We Ate
Y'all.  I totally want a Stan's to open down the street from me.  I had a Nutella + banana donut that delighted my tastebuds and Benjamin's Old Fashioned was what Old Fashioned dreams are made of!  We also split a Dreamsicle donut that I venture to say is the best type of Dreamsicle because it would never melt!  :)

At the suggestion of Jessica, we hit up Giordano's.  When we arrived there was a one hour wait for the pizza {what?!} so we placed our order with the hostess.  The timing actually worked out perfectly because we were seated, ate a salad and then voila!  Pizza!  I'm going to come out and say that I am not a deep dish fan.  Like not in the slightest.  I love a crispy thin crust pizza.  So I was a little doubtful that I would like what was set before us.  And man oh man was I wrong!  It was delicious!!

Where We Went
Of course we went and saw Cloud Gate, or the Bean as it is known on the streets.  :)  It was cool to see it in person and take in the Chicago skyline as well.
We also hit up the Chicago Art Institute.  There was a Picasso exhibit showing and Benjamin wanted to see American Gothic and A Sunday Afternoon.  Plus I love walking around huge museums filled with all kinds of things labeled as art.  I like how I have developed a taste for who I am drawn to and love to seek out.  {10 points goes to who knows the artist of the 4 below!}  While there is quite a bit of it that isn't my cup of tea {I'm looking at you Degas}, I can appreciate the skill and time it took to create such masterpieces.
And lastly we meandered up and down The Magnificent Mile popping in and out of stores as we saw things that would catch our eye {or as we needed to avoid the rain!}.  It would be interesting to know if most of the people shopping there were tourists or Chicago residents...  We came across an eyeglass store and ended up purchasing sets for both of us!  #ireallyNEEDEDanotherpair  #glitterenoughsaid

On the morning that we left, fluffy snowflakes floated down from the sky.  I'm kinda of like Loreli Gilmore in that I love the magic of snow.  It was the perfect way to wrap up our adventure together!

To find out more about how we renew our marriage, pop over and read what I have to say in the Behind the Door Marriage Series hosted by Chelsea.  I'd love to know your thoughts!

Five Things on Friday: 4.1.16

one
I've been celebrating my birthday this week.  Thirty three!  Last year was an eventful one: we became partners in a business, purchased land to build a new office and had a beautiful healthy Truman join our family!  I wrote a post containing thirty three things about me.  This year has been off to a great start {complete with a Blue Man Group show!} and I am eager to see what the next 364 days have in store.

two
Truman and I made it to my six week postpartum check up.  I don't know about you, but I am never sure what to wear on my feet when I go to the lady doctor.  They always get cold when I take my shoes off.  And with me being over due for a pedicure and not wanting to horrify Dr. Bobo, I took along some socks.  If you notice, they are the same socks but in different colors!  No matter, my feet were warm and there were no screams.  And the check up went well too!  Until next year, sweet Bobo!

three
I'm excited to announce that I am part of the Wild & Free book launch!  Written by Jess Connolly and Hayley Morgan, this book is written to encourage women to be bold in who God created them to be.  It is "a hope filled anthem for the woman who feels she is both too much and never enough."  It is available on May third.  I will be sharing my favorite parts of the book as I read through it!  And this is my new favorite way to read a book... with a stack of hot, crispy fries!  Ha ha!

four
Truman continues to be a lovable little bundle!  He eats well and sleeps well.  He is starting to coo and make faces and smile when we talk to him.  He loves Winston and moves his head to get a better look at him.  We have been working on our tummy time and for the most part he doesn't mind it.  Although the other morning he was most content to just lay there and snooze!

five
I actually wrote quite a few posts this week.  Did you catch my What's Up Wednesday post?  What are some of your favorite link-ups to be a part of?
